We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our growing Real Estate & Transactional Finance Practice Group in Washington, D.C. A Paralegal in this role would support Principals and Associates and interact with our clients. Paralegal Responsibilities:

  • Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned transactions or projects.
  • Assist lawyers with commercial real estate transactions, which include document preparation, document review and revision.
  • Prepare and review title commitments, surveys, zoning reports and other due diligence items relating to commercial real estate transactions.
  • Review closing documents for accuracy. 
  • Arranging for proper execution of original documents, including proper notaries when required.
  • Assist with all post-closing matters, including without limitation, delivery of original closing documents to the appropriate parties; negotiation and collection of remaining post-closing items (such as satisfactions, estoppels and SNDAs), follow up with title companies and the Land Records of each jurisdiction to confirm proper recording of closing documents.
  • Record billable work daily and meet annual billable hour requirement.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Paralegal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Paralegal certificate is a plus.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of paralegal experience, with title and survey experience required.
  • Experience working with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of legal language and principles, and research methods.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience using a document management system, NetDocs a plus.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience using SimplyAgree or other signature and closing tool a plus.

The pay range for this position is $87,200 – 114,500. The pay range provided is in compliance with state, city, or local employment laws and applies to this location only. Actual pay for this position will be determined based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, current market data, and business needs.

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position or sit for prolonged periods and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is frequently required to perform light work that includes lifting and moving objects up to 10 pounds.
